Music & MOUSICIANS

The Poseidon Athens Half Marathon is more than just an athletic event.

It is a landmark of history.

It was the first Half Marathon ever organized in Athens – a race inspired by the sea, by the city’s rich history, and by the most precious gift of life: water, the element that connects cultures and people across the globe.

As every year, the Poseidon Athens Half Marathon has once again transcended borders.

Runners from Five Continents and the Seven Seas that unite us are taking part.

From its very first edition, Poseidon was never limited to physical exercise alone. It embraced music, culture, and the joy of participation.

From the drums of the students of the 5th Junior High School of Palaio Faliro and the sailors of the legendary battleship “Averof” in the inaugural event, to the 60 musicians of the 2017 edition, along with marching bands, conservatories, music schools, and street performers, music has become the very heartbeat of the race.

Breaking new ground — perhaps even on a European level — Poseidon is evolving this year into a true Musical Marathon.

Exceptionally talented street musicians will perform by the sea, accompanying the runners with melodies, rhythms, and energy, offering a unique experience for both participants and spectators.

Under the coordination of our musician Mr. Boris Voutsinos, we have developed a dynamic system to support and promote street performers.

Our goal is not only to enhance the event artistically but also to provide meaningful support to these artists and showcase their work.

This year, our musicians will be spread throughout the course, equipped with everything they need — from sound gear to special attire and full organizational support.

And for the first time, one of them will be specially honored for their continued presence and valuable contribution to the event.

The Poseidon Athens Half Marathon is not just a race.

It is a meeting of people from every corner of the world.

It is a celebration of sport, culture, and art.

And its music is the voice of that celebration!

Thank you!
