Poseidon Athens Half Marathon: 25th of April 2021. Today is our day!

08.30 am Athens local time. Today is an ideal day for running. This morning’s sunrise was a few hours ago. The first rays of sun embrace Athens and the multi-awarded Flisvos Marina, also known as Athens’ Southern Riviera.

Now close your eyes!

At this time of day Poseidon Athens Half Marathon would start.

On your left you have the Greek Maritime Museum, Averoff Battleship, Olympias trireme and Esplanada.

On your right you have the Greek National Library and National Opera.

You’re running bridges and buildings’ roofs. You enjoy a wonderful view of Pireus port, inspiring you to keep going. You also have Marina Kallitheas, Palaio Faliro full of festive spirit, and our encouraging volunteers.

You continue your race, going through the magnificent, peaceful Flisvos Marina where you have live music!

You look around and see fellow runners from all around the world. They’re all happy, smiling. All the training come rain or shine, your effort and sweat was all worth it. It was for this moment.

Now open your eyes!

You’re at your home as everyone else.

We runners have an endless patience and mental endurance. We will do what is needed for the time being. Next year, things will be better. Way, way better.

Our priorities are different for now. Health is of outmost importance. We stand tall and strong together facing all the challenges.

Eventually the disease and nightmare known as Covid-19 will be defeated.
