The musical heart of the Poseidon Half Marathon!

It is a route with history.

It was the first Half Marathon ever organized in Athens — a race born by the sea, inspired by the memory of the city and by life’s most precious element: water, the force that connects people, cultures, and continents.

Every year, the Poseidon transcends borders.

At the starting line, runners from all five continents come together — people united by the seven seas and a shared passion for movement, perseverance, and participation.

From its very first edition, the Poseidon was never limited to physical exercise.
It embraced music, culture, and the joy of being together, transforming the race into a vibrant, multi-dimensional experience.

From the drums of the students of the 5th Gymnasium of Palaio Faliro and the naval escorts from the historic battleship “Averof” at the first event, to the 60 musicians of 2017, the bands, conservatories, music schools, and street performers — music became the heart, the rhythm, and the companion of the race.

Pioneering — perhaps even at a European level — the Poseidon continues to evolve this year into an authentic Musical Marathon.

Exceptionally talented street musicians will be positioned at selected points along the seaside route, performing by the waves and accompanying runners with melodies, rhythms, and energy, creating an experience that transcends time and the finish line.

Under the coordination of our musical director, Mr. Boris Voutsinos, we have developed an organized and dynamic system to support and promote street musicians.

Our goal is not only to artistically enhance the event, but also to meaningfully support creators by giving space, voice, and recognition to their work.

This year, our musicians will be present along the entire course, equipped with the necessary gear, special attire, and the full care of the organizing committee.

As every year, one of them will be specially honored for their consistent presence, dedication, and valuable contribution to the race throughout the years.

The Poseidon Half Marathon is not just a race.

It is a gathering of people from every corner of the earth.

It is a celebration of sport, culture, and art.

And its music…
is the voice of that celebration.
