Music and MUSICIANS: Music Marathon 2026

The Musical Heart of the Poseidon Athens Half Marathon

The Poseidon Athens Half Marathon is not just a sporting event.

It is a route shaped by history.

It was the first Half Marathon ever held in Athens — a race born by the sea, inspired by the city’s memory and by life’s most precious element: water, the force that connects people, cultures and continents.

Every year, the Poseidon Half Marathon goes beyond borders.

At the starting line, runners from the five continents come together — people united by the seven seas and a shared passion for movement, challenge and participation.

From its very first edition, the Poseidon Half Marathon has never been limited to physical endurance alone.
It embraced music, culture and the joy of being together, transforming the race into a living, multi-layered experience.

From the drums of the students of the 5th High School of Palaio Faliro and the ceremonial sailors of the historic battleship “Averof” at the inaugural race, to the 60 musicians of the 2017 edition, the bands, conservatories, music schools and street performers, music became the heart, the pulse and the companion of the race.

Pioneering — perhaps even at a European level — the Poseidon Half Marathon continues this year as a truly authentic Musical Marathon.

Exceptionally talented street musicians will be positioned at selected points along the coastal route, playing by the waves and accompanying runners with melodies, rhythms and energy, creating an experience that goes far beyond time and the finish line.

With musician Mr. Boris Voutsinos as our coordinator, we have developed a structured and vibrant system of support and promotion for street musicians.

Our goal is not only to artistically enrich the event, but also to meaningfully support these creators, offering them space, voice and recognition for their work.

This year, our musicians will be spread along the entire route, equipped with the necessary equipment, distinctive attire and the full support of the organization.

And for the first time, one of them will be honored in a special way, in recognition of their consistent presence, dedication and valuable contribution to the race throughout the years.

The Poseidon Half Marathon is not just a race.

It is a meeting point for people from every corner of the world!

It is a celebration of sport, culture and art!

And its music…
is the voice of that celebration!

Thank you!
