Within just two years, her strong digital presence has cultivated a loyal and fast-growing audience drawn to her candor and creative autonomy. Songs such as “Greece 2.0” and “Cool Down” gained viral traction, highlighting her ability to translate current events and cultural conversations into compelling, contemporary pop storytelling.
Biography
Léona is a Greek singer, songwriter, producer, and musician. Self-taught in guitar, piano, and bass, she independently writes and arranges her material in full, maintaining complete creative control over her work. Her artistic path is deliberately independent, defined by direct communication with her audience and an unwavering commitment to authenticity.
Born Anastasia, and known among friends as Sissy or Natassa, she selected her stage name as an act of self-determination — a personal and artistic statement. She later discovered that the Japanese word 獅子 (Shishi) translates to “lion,” a symbolic coincidence that further resonated with her emphasis on courage and expressive freedom.
Holding a degree in Philosophy, Léona approaches songwriting with analytical depth and structural awareness, while her pop sensibilities ensure immediacy and melodic appeal. In 2024, she began attracting wider attention through a series of TikTok reinterpretations of well-known Greek songs, reshaping them through her distinct sonic identity. During the same year, she released original tracks including “Fire and Water” and “Purple,” and composed music for the theatre production “Eparchia,” where she performed live on stage using looping techniques while also taking on an acting role. The production led to the release of “Whose Are You?”, a sharp and structurally unconventional song openly addressing nepotism and deeply rooted social structures within Greek society.
In 2025, “Greece 2.0” garnered nearly two million views, constructed from real news headlines and transforming contemporary tragedy into a powerful musical narrative. It was followed by “Telepathic,” built from phrases found on the walls of Athens and across digital spaces, and “Cool Down,” an artistic critique of the sexist undertones present in parts of mainstream music culture. She also featured on “I Like Girls,” delivering a raw and emotionally charged verse reflecting deeply personal experiences.
Her reinterpretation of “O Tropos” — originally performed by The Olympians and Paschalis — reimagines the 1960s classic as an R&B track with Latin influences, incorporating two newly written original verses. The release bridged eras and marked her introduction to Greek radio airplay.
Léona began performing live in Crete and Athens, appearing in intimate venues, festivals, and as a street musician. Her current performances center on live looping, offering audiences an immersive experience in which they witness the creation of a full production in real time. She also performs as a singer, guitarist, and bassist in the 60s-themed cover band Hermaphrodite’s Child, a parallel creative endeavor.
Looking ahead, she is preparing to compete in the Greek Eurovision National Final with a fusion track inspired by both Greek and Japanese culture, featuring English lyrics.
In spring 2026, she is set to release her debut EP, comprising five to seven tracks that retain an R&B core while exploring diverse thematic and sonic directions, signaling the next phase of an artist whose trajectory continues to evolve with intention and boldness.
